Synopsis: Battle of Uranus is an epic space opera burlesque inspired by Sci-Fi B-movies of the 70s and 80s. When her home planet is attacked by the evil glamazon Galaxoria, an unlikely outcast named Spunk Nick must team up with their planet’s top scientist, Dr. Gargantubrain, to save the galaxy. What ensues is an over-the-top, campy, sex-positive romp around the galaxy as Spunk Nick seeks out an ancient power source to stop Galaxoria’s evil plan.

Requires: All roles require strong singers and dancers. As this is a burlesque musical, partial (but tasteful) nudity is expected from most characters, and actors must be 18+. All body types are celebrated. Submissions from BIPOC/Queer performers will be prioritized.

Spunk Nick: Our unlikely hero. Spunk Nick is an outcast in their hyper-productive world. No matter what they do, Spunk Nick can never catch up to those around them and struggles with being accepted in their world. Terrified of uncertainty, Spunk Nick must now risk everything to save the galaxy from destruction. Along the way, they begin to find their chosen family and a brand new perspective on life.

Galaxoria: The evil glamazon set on taking the galaxy’s libido in their efforts to become the most glamorous diva in the galaxy. They are one part Rita Repulsa, one part Agatha Harkness.

The Karens: Galaxora’s evil hench-women. Don’t get distracted by their asymmetrical bobs or they will soon be asking to speak to your manager.

Dr. Gargantubrain: The Galaxy’s top scientist. Dr. Gargantubrain’s chaotic and eccentric brain might be the only thing stopping Galaxoria from destroying the galaxy. Pole dancing is an asset for this role.

Intro: A robotic, free explorer of the universe. Intro’s desire to experience the most out of life leads them to come to Spunk Nick’s aid along their journey. Don’t put Intro in a corner, they will stop at nothing to make sure their freedom is never limited again.

Ensemble: Looking for a large ensemble to fill the remaining speaking and singing roles in the show. The ensemble will represent the inhabitants of various planets, including: Poly Play Planet Aliens, Juicy V of the BDSM Nebula, the Butt Brigade, the Footsies, and, of course, Lesbian Exhibitionist Space Nuns.

Audition Process: In consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will be combining a virtual singing audition with an in-person dance call to reduce exposure during this period of increased risk of transmission. Note that all artists are required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

1. Apply: Fill out the audition application form at the link below. Deadline to submit is October 18.

2. Submit Video Audition: If selected to continue, you will be emailed info to submit a video audition, including singing to one of four provided tracks as well as a comedic monologue.

3. Dance Call: You will be invited to an in-person dance call, according to your availability indicated on the application form. Note that masks must be worn at all times indoors (provided if needed) and we will limit the number of people in the audition space in accordance with public health guidelines.

4. Callbacks: Artists chosen to continue will be contacted to return for callbacks on Saturday October 30.

If any of the above steps present a barrier to participation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and we will work with you to participate in a format that is inclusive and accessible for you.
